Biography

The Newbattle Abbey College building in Dalkeith, Midlothian, was originally a Cistercian house, then from 16th century the home to the Kerr family. Philip Kerr, 11th Marquis of Lothian, gave the property to the nation in 1936 to be used as a residential college for adults with limited previous academic achievement.
