Biography

Cinema Sgire, a community based film making and exhibition project was established collaboratively with Scottish Film Council in 1977 in the Western Isles. The Project Director Michael W Russell proposed a festival of film in the Celtic countries, first held in 1980 in the Hebrides, becoming the Festival of Film and Television in the Celtic Countries. The Festival is a peripatetic event between Ireland, Wales, Scotland, Brittany and Cornwall and is organised by the Celtic Film and Television Association formed in the 1980’s.
