Scope and Contents Alexander Paterson qualified as a doctor at Edinburgh in 1885. He spent a few years in London, Cairo and Aden, before entering on his main work as a medical missionary of the United Free Church of Scotland at Hebron in Palestine in 1893. He remained there until the station was handed over to the Church Missionary Society in 1922, when he retired to Edinburgh. He died in 1940.
