This includes two letters of John Home, the author of ‘Douglas’, concerning the sentence of execution in 1746 on David, son of George Home of Whitfield and Manderston, together with David's last letter; a letter, 1758, of David Hume, the historian, on his family history; and a letter to Alexander Home, RN, from his grandmother, concerning his behaviour and duties in life, 1780.
