The manuscript here is for a short story entitled ‘Indian Island’ by Letitia Landon, which was first published as part of ‘Traits and trials of early life’, in 1836. Poet and writer, Letitia Elizabeth Landon, later Maclean, (1802-1838) was one of the most celebrated female poets and writers of her age. She published poems and novels, as well as being a regular reviewer for the 'Literary Gazette'.
The papers here consist of some letters of Landon to John Murray [II] and John Murray [III], as well as manuscripts for one of her novels, short stories and poetry.
