Business partner of Newton-on-Ayr Picture House Ltd.
Purchased Carrick Cinema House, Maybole-- built the ‘New Carrick’ c.1931 -- partnership in the Newton-on-Ayr Picture House Ltd. Company – construction of ‘The Doon’ in Dalmellington, ‘The Regal’ in Dalry,-- moved from Maybole to reside in Ayr in 1936 -- Gilmour was Managing Director of ‘The Ritz’ in Ayr, opened February 1936 – destroyed by fire in November of that year, then rebuilt and reopened July 1937 –another Ritz opened in 1938 in Strathaven – ‘The Broadway’ built and opened in Blantyre, 1938
