 Series
Identifier: MSS.5524-5527

Scope and Contents

Robert Liston's correspondence with Lord Grantham stresses Sardinia's anxiety in the face of the rumours of a war between the Ottoman Porte and the joint forces of Austria and Russia. Lord Mountstuart did not take up his appointment at Turin, but was appointed Ambassador to Spain; he asked Liston to remain as his secretary, and sent him directly from Turin to Madrid.
