Scope and Contents

The contents are follows.

(i) 'Historia y papeles de el Duende Politico', 1735-1736, possibly by Manoel Freire de Silva. It consists of satires on contemporary politics in verse and prose, including an attack on the economic policy of Don José Patiño, chief Secretary of State. (Folio 1.)

(ii) 'Vida del sutil critico Duende de Madrid', Manoel Freire de Silva. A biography of him was published in Madrid in 1788. (Folio 144.)

(iii) 'Pequeña Pieza Jocoseria intitulada El Marqués mas conturbado por Gefe de la injusticia. Rapresentada en el Drama Traxico Alexandro en Africa. Impreso uno, y otro en Madrid ... 1775'. A one-act play in eight scenes. (Folio 179.)

(iv) Extracts from 'El Tizon de España', a sixteenth-century genealogical work by Cardinal Hurtado de Mendoza y Bobadilla. (Folio 196.)
