Scope and Contents

The contents are as follows.

(i) 'A Dialogue Discourse betweene a Marchant Venturer and a Sea Captaine of the Sea fight between the Navies of England and Spayne ... 1588 ... where-unto is added a sumarie relation of all the commanders, shipps, forces, munitions, and provisions, that were in the same Spanish Fleete ... the which catalogue was taken out a Spanish coppie found in the shipp of Don Pedro de Vaides ... Written by Sir Arthur Gorges Knight'. There is some discussion of Spanish policy between 1588 and 1609. (Folio 1.)

(ii) An account of the expedition to Cadiz in October 1625, probably written by one of the Colonels attached to the expedition, Sir Edward Conway or Sir Charles Rich. See ‘Calendar of state papers, domestic, 1625-1626', page 166. (Folio 22.).
