Scope and Contents

Collection contains one folder of letters, press cuttings, and ephemera relating to the life and writings of Tom Anderson. Letters are between WGML librarian Audrey Canning and members of the extended Anderson family regarding information on Tom's life and work. Photocopied secondary sources include an excerpt from the biography 'Tom Anderson: Apostle of Revolution'; chapters from 'Socialist and Other Sunday Schools', from the Unionist Workers' Handbooks series; and an excerpt from 'Leisure and the Labour Movement in Glasgow, 1918-1939', an MA thesis by Martin Taylor. Folder also includes decorative copies of Anderson's 'Ten Socialist Commandments'; a manuscript list by Canning of printed titles held by the Library relating to Anderson; photocopied press cuttings relating to Anderson's life, election campaigns, and obituaries; two postcards with the theme of Socialist Sunday Schools; a greeting card with Soviet maxims (by The Proletarian Press); and one original greeting card from Tom Anderson and his wife Bella.
