Scope and Contents

The indictment of James Stuart followed a fatal duel over abusive articles written by Sir Alexander Boswell in the ‘Glasgow Sentinel’. Stuart was acquitted of the charge. A note by Henry Cockburn (folio i) states that "This volume contains the information (beyond what was supplied by their own personal knowledge) on which Mr. Stuart`s case was conducted.".
