Scope and Contents
With the binding are:
(i) a letter, 1885, of Edward Maunde Thompson to W M Lindsay concerning the date of the original manuscript;
(ii) notes, circa 1885, in manuscript from the introduction to `M. Valerii Martialis Epigrammaton Libri`, by Ludwig Friedlaender, concerning the date of the manuscript; and,
(iii) 10 black and white photographs of the manuscript before the binding was disbound.

Physical Characteristics and Technical Requirements
Bevelled beech boards covered with tanned leather, tooled blind; a flap from the top cover was fastened to two brass pillars on the bottom cover by straps (only partially preserved); five brass studs on the top cover, three on the bottom; title `Marcialis’ (`M` in red) written in the centre lower bottom cover, covered by a piece of horn held down by brass plate; probably French, 13th century.
