Book of hours, probably according to the Use of Rome., 2nd half of 15th century.

 Item
Identifier: MS.7124

Scope and Contents

The book in its present state can be regarded as little more than a fragment, since it lacks leaves at the beginning and after folios 10, 19, 33, 41, 44, 46, 48, 50, 55, 58, 64, 67, 70, 72, 76, 82, 88, 105, and 106 (after which at least one gathering seems to be missing). Many of the remaining leaves have had the lower corners supplied with new vellum, and folios 107-110, which are in a different hand, appear to be part of a later insertion. The front pastedown and folio 11, its conjugate, are a fragment of an unidentified Latin document in a contemporary cursive hand, partly hidden by the remains of a drawing on the pastedown and by an unidentified offset on the recto of folio 11. On folio 11 verso is an offset of Luke, I, 26 and what follows, from the Sequentiae at folio 107; the original of this is not extant. The back pastedown is a fragment of another unidentified document.

Section (x) was written for a woman (folios 108 verso, 110 verso).

Lessons 5 and 6 in Lauds of the Office of the Dead are listed as 'Lectio Septima' and 'Lectio viii' (folios 97-99).
