Scope and Contents

The contents are as follows:

(i) Calendar in gold, red and blue. Entries in gold include St Mor (15 January), la feste des neiges (5 August), St Romain (23 October), and St Thomas Becket (29 December) (folio 1); (ii) Sequentiae of the Gospels (folio 13); (iii) 'Obsecro te' and 'O intemerata' (folio 16); (iv) Hours of the Virgin (folio 21); (v) Penitential Psalms (folio 46); (vi) Litany and Supplications (folio 53 verso); (vii) Hours of the Cross (folio 58); (viii) Hours of the Holy Ghost (folio 59); (ix) Office of the Dead (folio 61); (x) Les Quinze Joies de Notre Dame (folio 79); (xi) 'Les vii requestes' (folio 82).

Lacking the leaves containing the beginnings of the Sequentiae of the Gospels, Matins, Prime, Vespers, the Penitential Psalms, the Hours of the Cross, and the Office of the Dead (after folios 12, 20, 34, 42, 45, 57, and 60), the end of the Seventh, the Eighth, and the beginning of the Ninth Lessons of the Office of the Dead (after folio 75), the beginning of the Quinze Joies (after folio 78), and all after folio 82. There are small miniatures depicting the labours of the months and the signs of the Zodiac in the calendar, and historiated initials depicting St Katherine (folio 34); scenes from the childhood of Christ (folios 37 verso, 39 verso, 41); and the coronation of the Virgin (folio 43 verso). Partial borders, some inhabited, throughout.

Mid sixteenth-century French binding with gold tooling of a quasi-fanfare style. Vellum.
