Scope and Contents

The contents of the manuscript are as follows:

(i) `Registrum Coenobii de Dryburgh Impensis Walteri MacFarlan de Eodem Transcriptum, Anno MDCCXL` (folio 1), copied from Adv.MS.34.4.7, 15th century, with an extract from Hay on Dryburgh, 1700-1707, or after (folio 127 verso; from Adv.MS.34.1.8, pages 301-302) and a list of the charters (folio 129).

(ii) ‘Chartae Prioratus de Coldingham Impensis Walteri MacFarlan de Eodem Transcriptae Anno MDCCXLIV` (folio 135), a selection from the original deeds in the Library of the Dean and Chapter of Durham (almost all published or calendared in ‘The History and Antiquities of North Durham’, Appendix; Raine`s numeration has been added in pencil), with a copy of John Smith`s list of these charters (folio 226; from Adv.MS.15.1.13), and a 16th-century rental of the priory (folio 254; source unidentified). The list and the rental are in a different hand.
