Two contiguous vellum fragments, together forming the upper part of a bifolium of an unidentified commentary on the Book of Proverbs., 14th century.
Scope and Contents
The text is written in a small, heavily contracted hand. Probably about half of the bifolium survives, the width of each leaf being about 7½ inches, and the combined height (the fragments having been cut horizontally) being about 5 inches. The surviving portions of the commentary refer to Proverbs ii, 5-17, iii, 1-5, iv, 1-7, and iv, 10-11.
The fragments were recovered from the binding of a copy (pressmark L.87.b) of ‘Sermons de M. Jean Calvin sur le Livre de Iob’ (Geneve, 1611), where they had been used as binding strips.
