Adye, John.

Letter, 17 February [1876], of John Adye to John Murray III. The letter concerns the publication of a pamphlet by Adye, possibly “The British Army in 1875. A reply to Mr. John Holmes, M.P.” (1876). Folios 1-2.

Adye, Willett.

Letter, 7 February 1863, of Willett Adye to John Murray III. Adye states that he has sent a copy of “Adye’s Crimean War” to Murray. Folios 3-4.

Aflalo, Frederick George.

Letters, 1898-1916, of Frederick Aflalo to John Murray IV and Hallam Murray. The letters mention various publishing concerns, including proposals for publications, and requests for advice on such matters. Also mentioned, 1916, is Aflalo’s request for a small grant from the Royal Literary Fund for his wife.

Letters, 1814-1815, of Thomas Harrison, Secretary of the African Institution, to John Murray II. They concern the publication of “The journal of a mission to the interior of Africa, in the year 1805” (1815), by Mungo Park. Folios 49-53.

Agar, John Samuel.

Letter, 5 December 1814, of John Agar to John Murray II. The letter concerns Murray’s failure to acknowledge Agar in an advertisement for Lord Byron’s “Lara”, for which Agar had made an engraving of Byron from a portrait by Thomas Phillips. Folio 54.

Letters, 1834-1848, of Jean Louis Agassiz to John Murray II and John Murray III. The letters are mostly in French; one in German (folios 59-60), and one in English (folio 76).
