Hallard, Alys.

Letters, 1908, of Alys Hallard to “Mr Murray”. They concern proposals for English translations of several French publications, among them the memoirs of the Contesse de Montholon. Folios 1-8.

Hallé, Charles Edward.

Letter, 8 January 1909, of Charles Hallé to ?John Murray IV. It probably concerns the preparation of the manuscript of Hallé’s “Notes from a painter’s life” (1909). Folio 9.

Hallé, Marie.

Letters, 1903-[1904] and 1908, of Marie Hallé to John Murray IV. The letters for 1903-[1904] concern Hallé’s “Queen Mary of Modena: her life and letters” (London: J.M. Dent and Co., 1905), and Murray’s decision to turn down the work. The letters for 1908 concern "Episode 1641-1644”, sent for Murray’s consideration, and also rejected. Folios 10-17.

Halley, Alexander.

Letter, 18 December 1848, of Alexander Halley to John Murray III. It concerns Halley`s proposal to write on the natural history of Madeira. Enclosed is a printed list, 1844, of the theses of medical graduates, including Halley, of Edinburgh University in 1844. Folios 18-21.

Halliburton, Brenton.

Letter, 24 May [1831], of Brenton Halliburton to John Murray II, requesting a copy of the “Report of the Committee of the House of Commons upon Canadian Affairs”. The letter probably concerns the preparation of Halliburton’s “Observations on the importance of the North American Colonies to Great Britain” (1831). Folios 22-23.

Halliburton, William Dobinson.

Letters, 1896-1913, of William Halliburton to John Murray IV and Hallam Murray. They mostly concern the preparation and publication of Halliburton’s various revisions of William Kirkes’ “Handbook of physiology”. Also mentioned is Halliburton’s “Biochemistry of muscle and nerve” (1904).
