Kinnear, John Gardiner.

Letters, 1840-1859, of John Kinnear to John Murray II and John Murray III. Kinnear was the brother-in-law of John Murray III. The letters concern family interests and the publication of two works by Kinnear: “Cairo, Petra, and Damascus, in 1839. With remarks on the government of Mehemet Ali, and on the present prospects of Syria” (1841); and, “The crisis and the currency: with a comparison between the English and Scotch systems of banking” (1847).

Kinns, Samuel.

Letters, 1890 and 1897, of Samuel Kinns to John Murray III, John Murray IV and Hallam Murray. Letter, 1890, concerns permission to use photographic copies of illustrations from works by Austen Henry Layard, Giovanni Belzoni and Henry Stuart. Letters, 1897, concern Kinns’s wish to publish a work through John Murray, publishers. Included are advertisements, with press reviews, for two earlier works by Kinns: “Moses and geology”; and, “Graven in the rock”. Folios 65-79.

Kinross, John.

Letter, 15 September 1879, of John Kinross to John Murray III suggesting that Murray consider publishing part of “The Speaker’s Commentary” separately. Folio 80.

Kipling, Rudyard.

Three letters, 1907 and 1914, of Rudyard Kipling to, presumably, John Murray IV. The two letters for 1907 concern a work on psychology by Henry Rutgers Marshall. In the letter for 1914 Kipling explains why he is unable to provide verses for “Mr Mott”. Folios 81-85.
