Scope and Contents

This manuscript mainly includes letters, 1818-1859 and uncertain date, of William Leake to John Murray II and John Murray III. The letters mostly concern works of his including “An historical outline of the Greek revolution”, “Travels in the Morea” and “Travels in Northern Greece”.

It also includes letters, 1846-1857, of Edward Lear to John Murray III, concerning plates for his “Illustrated excursions in Italy” (published by T. McLean) and other art work; one letter includes a small sketch.

All the letters are arranged alphabetically by correspondent and by date under each name.
