Scope and Contents

This manuscript mainly includes letters, 1814-1842, of John H. Merivale to John Murray II, with a few to John Murray III. The letters concern his works, mostly published by the Murrays, including “Collections from the Greek anthology”, a “Chronicle of the Kings of England” in verse, and an anthology of his poetry.

It also includes letters, 1830-1832, of Gibbons Merle, newspaper editor, to John Murray II, and letters, 1900-1903, of Leonard Merrick to John Murray IV concerning his novel “The worldlings”, with mention of his next book.

All the letters are arranged alphabetically by correspondent and by date under each name.
