Scope and Contents

Letters, 1815-1827, of Henry Milman to John Murray II. They concern various of his poetical works published by Murray, including “Fall of Jerusalem”, “Belshazzar”, “Samor” and “Anne Boleyn”, as well as his Bampton lectures. There is mention also of his writing for, and reading of, the "Quarterly Review", news of literary acquaintances and friends, and his hopes for the Professorship of Poetry at Oxford. The letters are arranged in chronological order.
