Letters, 1834-1849, of Henry Milman to John Murray II and John Murray III, with related letters. They concern various works of his published by the Murrays, including his notes on Gibbon’s “The history of the decline and fall of the Roman Empire”; “The works of Horace”; and discussion about a collected edition of his poetry. He also comments on manuscripts sent to him for criticism, and on his reading generally. The letters are arranged in chronological order.
