Waugh, Arthur.

Letters, 1897-1901, of Arthur Waugh to John Murray IV and Hallam Murray. They concern Waugh’s work as adviser to the publishers Kegan Paul, Trench, Trubner and Co. Limited. Folios 1-38.

Waugh, Ellen.

Letters, 1900, of Ellen Waugh to John Murray IV and Hallam Murray. They concern suggestions by Waugh that the Murrays might publish English translations of two works, one German, the other Russian:

“Der Buernkrieg in Südafrika” (Berlin: E.S. Mittler, 1901) by Ludwig von Estorff;

“Der Krieg”, a German translation from the Russian of Johann von Bloch.

Waugh, John.

Letters, 1815 and 1817, of John Waugh to John Murray II. The first concerns Waugh`s request that Murray help find a post for the son of his business partner, Mr Innes. The others concern the publication by Waugh and Innes of “The history of the University of Edinburgh “ by Alexander Bower. Folios 49-53.

Way, Albert.

Letters, 1834-1872 and undated, of Albert Way to John Murray II, John Murray III and Robert Cooke. The letters give an insight into Way’s antiquarian interests.
