Henry Peter Brougham, 1st Baron Brougham and Vaux, was a Whig politician and Lord Chancellor. He had a long political career and was involved in many of the politics of the early 19th century. In addition, Brougham co-founded 'The Edinburgh Review' and was instrumental in establishing the University of London.

This series contains letters and manuscripts of Brougham to John Murray [II] and John Murray [III]. The letters discuss business matters and publications relating to the Murray publishing house. There is also a bound manuscript by Brougham for an article for 'The Quarterly Review', which was published by John Murray. Finally, there are some miscellaneous items relating to Brougham, including a manuscript copy of a poem entitled 'Who Killed Lord Brougham?' and a photocopy of a different manuscript of the same poem.
