Scope and Contents
Professor William Ireland Knapp (1835-1908) wrote 'Life, writings and correspondence of George Burrow', which was published by John Murray in 1899. The papers here relate to that publication. There is correspondence of Knapp to John Murray [IV] and other members of the publishing house. In addition, there are letters of other correspondents to Murray about the works of Borrow under the editorship of Knapp and letters of the American publisher G P Putnam's Sons regarding the American edition of the work. Finally, there are some papers concerning the works of Borrow, including notes by Knapp.
