  • Scope and Contents

    The correspondence concerns the business relations between John Murray II and Archibald Constable and his partners, and includes receipts, invoices and other business papers. The papers are arranged chronologically.

    1808.

    May: folios 1-18;

    June: folios 19-33;

    July: folios 34-47;

    August: folios 48-74.

    Note.

    Folios 59-60. Letter, 19 August 1808, to “Dr Alexr Mackay”. Given the nature of the letter, an account for “46 sliding rule”, and that it was sent to George Street, London, it is probable that “Alexr” is a mistake, and that the addressee was Dr Andrew Mackay (1758-1809), of George Street, London, teacher of navigation.

  • Bibliography

    critical apparatus.
