As literary advisor and editor of the 'Quarterly Review', William Gifford was a frequent correspondent of John Murray [II]. The correspondence in this subseries are letters sent as literary adviser and friend - those that mainly relate to his role of editor of the 'Quarterly Review' can be located in Ms.42252.
