Scope and Contents
The papers are arranged chronologically.
1951.
Typescript, 1951, of the original introduction to ‘Psychoanalytic Studies of the Personality’. The typescript would appear to suggest the book’s original title was ‘Studies in Psycho-Analysis and Object-Relations Psychology’. The typescript has been corrected by Fairbairn. Folios 1-12.
1952.
Typescript, 1952, of the original preface to ‘Psychoanalytic Studies of the Personality’. The typescript has been corrected by Fairbairn. Folios 13-17.
Correspondence and typescripts, 1952, concerning the draft author’s preface and draft introduction to ‘Psychoanalytic Studies of the Personality’. Folios 18-34.
The letters are from Ernest Jones, whom Fairbairn had approached to write an introduction to ‘Psychoanalytic Studies of the Personality’. The typescripts would appear to have been sent by Fairbairn to Jones as enclosures to letters.
Manuscript drafts and typescripts, 1952, of the bibliography for ‘Psychoanalytic Studies of the Personality’. Folios 35-40.

Folios 13-17 were originally enclosed by folder, annotated by William Ronald Dodds Fairbairn: ‘LXVI. ‘Psycho-Analytic Studies of the Personality’. Original preface (replaced by another). Folios 41-42.
