Scope and Contents

An account of payments for military equipment, provisions, transport, ‘intelligence’, hospitals, etc., during the rising of 1715.

Inserted at the end is "The New Year’s Gift. A Poem", [?1720], of 74 lines on the birth of Prince Charles Edward Stuart, on an elaborately ornamented sheet 18¾ inches x 15 inches (folio iii). It begins:

"Tis well ! Britannia’s vows and ardent prayers At last have scaled the skies and reach’d th’ Almighty ears."

and ends:

"Hail Royal Charles! Kind Heav’n shall send the day, When joys shall brighten and our clouds give way; It must be so. For historys record, Britannia wish’d her James. But had her Charles restord."
