Scope and Contents

The manuscript includes:

(i) Contemporary copies of official correspondence and memoranda, November 1807-January 1808, concerning the movement of naval vessels in joint operations against the Kathiawar pirates because of the threat to trade (folio 1);

(ii) Contemporary copies of official correspondence and memoranda, July 1805-September 1806, concerning revenue matters in Cambay (folio 120);

(iii) Official memoranda, July 1806, concerning the position of Sir Miguel de Souza within the administration of Gujarat, etc. (folio 152);

(iv) Official memoranda, November 1805-June 1806, about the East India Company's attitude towards the Garasias, November 1805-June 1806 (folio 176);

(v) Copies of official letters, July 1807-September 1808, about the cost of the Kathiawar expedition and its being borne by the Gaikwar (folio 214);

(vi) Concluding note, circa 1820, by Alexander Walker about piracy; it is possible that he intended this volume to be for publication (folio 247).
