Scope and Contents

The contents are as follows:

(i) Road-bills, 1757-1881, undated, found loose in MSS.1921-1923: Bills of inn-keepers, chiefly in Moray, Banffshire, and Aberdeenshire; among these are some bills of 1871-1881, including a few of foreign hotels (folio 1);

(ii) 'Information for Mr James Eleis & ye poor of ye Westkirk paroch agt Hary Nisbet yor of Dean', 1681, found loose in MS.1953: 'Leaves from the Buik of the West Kirke' (folio 32);

(iii) Bills and notes, 1726, undated, relating to the affairs of the United Incorporation of Mary's Chapel or of Charles Bruce, apparently the Treasurer, found loose in a pocket in the cover of MS.1991: Account book of Charles Bruce (folio 34);

(iv) Papers from MS.2051: Papers of the family of Ogilvie of Barras, comprising correspondence, 1919, concerning the proposed purchase of the papers for the nation, with copies of two letters, 1784, 1796, and transcripts of some of the letters in that volume (folio 38);

(v) Illustrations to Dante and correspondence, 1885-1900, found loose in MSS.2168-2172: 'Disegni ad illustrazione della Divina Commedia di Dante Alighieri...' (folio 77).
