(i) Papers concerning the lands of the barony of Hassandean, being copies of deeds, 1457, 1560, 1562; letters, 1628, to the 1st Earl of Tweeddale and Andrew Hay, Writer to the Signet, concerning the rental; rentals, 1648-1678; memorandum, 1658, concerning the joining of Hassandean church to that of Robertson; papers, 1666-1667, concerning the 1st Marquess of Tweeddale’s claim to the lands of Hassandean; inventory of writs, [?circa 1586]; and information, undated, for the 1st Earl of Buccleuch and Robert Scott of Hassandean against the 1st Earl of Tweeddale and the daughters and heirs of the 6th Lord Hay of Yester (folio 1);
(ii) Papers, 1623-1677, undated, concerning the executry of the 1st and 2nd Earls of Buccleuch; inventories of plenishing and silver at Newark Castle, 1632-1633; estate accounts, 1631-1633, 1651-1652; account of expenses at London after the death of the 1st Earl of Buccleuch; and inventory of silver and plenishing belonging to the 2nd Earl of Buccleuch, 1652 (folio 29);
(iii) Rentals of Buccleuch lands, 1649-1667, undated (folio 82);
(iv) Note, early 17th century, of lands given to the 1st Lord Scott of Buccleuch on the Earl of Bothwell’s forfeiture in 1594 (folio 118).
