The papers comprise a list of Peers according to the Rolls of the last Parliament of Scotland, 1707; copy of a petition by them to Queen Anne concerning their right to sit in the House of Lords by virtue of a peerage of Great Britain, 1710; notes of limitations on Scots peerages, 1740; opinion on the succession to Lord Newark, 1741; the Earl of Bute's list for voting at the election of Representative Peers, 1747; ten proxies, signed but not completed, for the same election; two claims to vote at the same election as Earl of Stair; list of peers who voted in 1754; opinion on the succession to the Duke of Atholl, 1761; and copy of the Earl of Bute's list for the election of 1761.
