The contents are as follows. (i) Incomplete drafts for ‘Remarks on the history of Scotland’ (Edinburgh, 1773). With drafts for Lord Hailes's 'Reply' to Patrick, Lord Elibank's ‘Letter to Lord Hailes on his remarks on the history of Scotland’ (Edinburgh, 1773). The 'Reply' was first printed in the 3rd edition of the ‘Annals of Scotland’ volume III, page 155, (Edinburgh, 1819). (Folio 1.) (ii) Drafts and notes for a number of biographical works including ‘A sketch of the life of Mark Alexander Boyd’, ?1787, an apparently unpublished biography of Mark Duncan, and notes for ‘A sketch of the life of John Hamilton’, ?1787.
