(i) Corrected galley proof of the short story, 'The Dead Harlot'. (Folio l.) This was published in ‘New tales of horror by eminent authors’ (London, 1935), pages l44-148, but had already appeared in ‘Scottish Nation’, volume 2, number 7 (1923), page 8, under the title 'In the fulness of time’.

(ii) Newspaper cuttings and galley proof of the story 'A' body's lassie'. (Folio 3.) The cuttings from the ‘Scots Observer’, 14 May 1927, have manuscript additions which were incorporated in the proof for ‘New tales of horror by eminent authors’ (London, 1935), pages 149-154;

(iii) Newspaper cutting of the story 'Maria' from the ‘Glasgow Herald’, 27 August 1927. (Folio 10.) The title has been altered in manuscript to 'Tam Mackie's Trial.' The story was reprinted in ‘The uncanny Scot’, edited by Kenneth Buthlay (London, 1968), pages 46-49;

(iv) Corrected typescript and galley proof of the story 'The Moon through glass'. (Folio l2.) First published in 1927, it was reprinted in ‘The uncanny Scot’, edited by Kenneth Buthlay (London, 1968), pages 73-76;

(v) Manuscript of an article, 'Injustice to Scottish National Library', published in the ‘Kilmarnock Herald’, 18 April 1929, and later in the ‘Perthshire Courier’ and ‘Banffshire Advertiser’ (Folio 21.) (vi) Corrected newspaper cutting, possibly from the ‘Glasgow Evening Times’, and a galley proof of the story 'Wound Pie', published ‘New tales of horror by eminent authors’ (London, 1935), pages 155-158. (Folio 32.)

(vii) Manuscript, proof and printed version of the political article, ‘Fidelity in small things’ (privately printed, 1934). (Folio 38.) The text of the manuscript was condensed in print and references to Fascism omitted.

(viii) Corrected typescript and proof of the article 'I am a highbrow'. (Folio 48.) It was published in ‘Enquiry’, volume 2, number 2 (1949), pages 38-43, but the typescript dates from 1934; (ix) Manuscript of 'Twenty poems for posterity by younger poets of our day', an anthology collected by Hugh MacDiarmid and John Gawsworth, circa l940. (Folio 58.) Most of the introductory essay is in MacDiarmid's hand;

(x) Manuscript, with later additions, of 'The Raucle Tongue', a talk broadcast on the BBC Scottish Home Service, 1 April 1948. (Folio lOl.)
