The notebook contains early drafts, 1895, of 'War' (folio 1), lacking the beginning, 'Jus Primae Noctis' (folio 28), and the beginning of 'The lost pibroch' under the title 'The half town pipers' (folio 19 verso). 'Jus Primae Noctis' was first published in ‘New Review’, volume xvi (1897), pages 662-673, and is included in the Inveraray edition of ‘The lost pibroch’ (Edinburgh, 1935). This manuscript also contains the beginning of 'The half town bard' (folio 22 verso), an unpublished story.
