Extensive meteorological observations are recorded throughout the journals, which contain further descriptions of Jean-Marie Couttet's climbs (MS.11984, folios 38-39), and a contemporary report, derived from Sir John Herschel, of the latter's ascent of the Breithorn (MS.11984, folios 57-59).
