This section contains correspondence of Mary Elizabeth, Baroness Dunfermline (died 1874), eldest daughter of the 2nd Earl of Minto and wife of Ralph Abercromby, 2nd Baron Dunfermline, of her only child, the Honourable Mary Catherine Elizabeth ('Mimi') Trotter of Colinton (died 1908), wife of Lieutenant-Colonel John Moubray Trotter, and of other members of the Abercromby family. Most of it is family and personal; but there is some material concerning the later part of the public career of James, 1st Baron Dunfermline (see especially MS.13172) and the diplomatic career of his son, the 2nd Baron (see especially MSS.13173-13175).
