n the opening folio is written ‘This and ane iye volume of the digests was doon by my G. fye Sr Thomas Hope, his maj. advocat in ye years 1602, 1603 and 1604, all written wi his oune hand and thir two manuscripts wi a lesser ane of some few pratiques citted by his sone Kerse in his great collections – Practiqua observatio patris – are given in by me to the worthy facultie of Advocats to be preserved in memory of the Author and as a marque of my respect and estime to the noble facultie, Ede 26th Jany 1702. A Hope’.
