Financial papers relating to Lord Byron., 1798-1840, 1997.
Scope and Contents
This series concerns the financial affairs of Lord Byron and contains bills, receipts, expenses and accounts, letters of credit, and correspondence. Included are the bills and accounts of expenses for the European tour that Lord Byron conducted with John Cam Hobhouse. Some documents also relate to Byron’s mother, Catherine Gordon Byron, and his half-sister, Augusta Leigh. The financial records cover beyond the death of Byron; for example, the expenses for Byron’s funeral, as well as expenses for the auxiliary brigade in Greece that had been under his command and patronage. Also with these papers are statements relating to the various properties of the Byron family.
