Instrument of sasine in favour of Nichol Carncors, burgess of Edinburgh, of the lands of Bakspittaill and Foirspittaill lying in the regality of Brochtoun and sheriffdom of Edinburgh, which he formerly held in tack; proceeding on precept of sasine (dated at Holyrood 21 April 1536) by Robert, abbot of the monastery of Holyrood and the convent thereof, for infefting the said Nichol and the heirs of his body, whom failing, William Carncors, his brother german, his heirs and assignees, in said lands., 13 May 1536.

Contains 71 writs and three detached seals, with Cairncross Charters of the Regality of Melrose (listed in "Selections from the Regality of Melrose", volume III, (1917), pp 373-382).

Please note that the Rutherford name is represented variously throughout the charters, including Ruderfurde, Ruthirfurde, and Rutherfurde.

This collection consists of material transferred from the Scottish Record Office to the National Library, and is supplementary to the main body of Rutherfurd of Edgerston Papers (Acc.7676) held by the National Library.
