Charter by William de Strachine and John Yhung son of Richard, baillies of Perth and the community of the same granting to John de Spensa son & heir of William de Spensa, senior a tenement, belonging to the deceased John son of Malcolm, burgess of Perth who was owing £4 to the royal custumar, on the South side of South Street between the land of William of Qwhitsum on the east and the land of Robert Broun on the west for payment of the said sum, the accustomed rent to the King and an annualrent to Cristiane de Spensa and her heirs of 13/4d. Commonseal of the burgh [missing], Witnesses: William de Qwhitsum, Robert Broun, John Gill’ de Haltoun, Richard de Strachine, Thomas de Muncrefe, Andrew de Muntage, Walter Rywot and Ingitermo de Buchan burgesses of Perth.[Undated but circa 1480].

14. Charter, by Walter Umfray son and heir of the deceased Walter Umfray burgess of Perth in favour of Thomas Gibsoun burgess of a perticate of land lying above the town below the croft of John de Spensa between the land of the said John de Spensa on the north and land of Donald Anderson on the south. Seal of granter missing and of William de Kynnarde baillie of Perth. Witnesses: Patrick Charteris now provost and sheriff of Perth, James Charteris William Scoule and John de Balcancoll, baillies of the same, Thomas de Lyn, John de Camera, Cristinus de Dunnyn, John de Serez, Mathew [ ] Thomas Scot and John de Logy burgesses. [No date but circa 1420 ].

15. Instrument dated [illeg.] March 1500 recording protest of John Spens of Athaland having given sasine to Sir John Lundy of that ilk of an annualrent of 40/- from the lands of Athaland formerly possessed by Walter Heriot that the said Walter should complete title by sealing his charter. Witnesses: Stephen Dudingstone of Sandford, Andrew Lundy, Mr Thomas Lundy, Dom Thomas Dempstertoune chaplain, Henry Dempstertoune and Thomas Hudson. Notary: David Greig priest of St Andrews diocese.

16. Instrument of sasine dated 8 July 1500 recording the transfer of possession by Henry Ramsay and Andrew Lundy of Carnbo, sheriffs depute of the half lands of Kittidy and Cragsunquhar formerly possessed by Robert Nory of Terbert to John Spens of Lathaland. Witnesses: Bartholomew Johneson, John Smert, John Steynson, Thomas Boyst and John Sibbald. Notary: John Ferny.

17. Royal feu charter in favour of Alexander Corby and his heirs of a quarter of a sixteenth of the lands and town of Luthre for payment of feu of 23/4 annually. Edinburgh, 25 January 1528.

Instrument of sasine dated 20 November 1550 recording infeftment of Alexander Henrisone in succession to his father, Robert Henrisone (deceased) on a royal precept in the sixth part of the lands of Dron and Cottoun and the sixth part of the mill by Thomas Davidsoun officer and baillie of Robert Betoun of Creich, stewart of Fife. Witnesses: Robert Scot, John Wilsoun, William Wemys, Duncan

19. Instrument of sasine dated 5 January 1551 recording infeftment of Nycola Vod spouse to John Bell burgess of Kirkcaldy in two tenements in Kirkcaldy following resignation by her husband viz. one between the land of Thomas Donaldson on the east, the land of William Bell on the west, the common vennel on the north and the kings highway on the south, the other on the east side of the burgh between the land of the deceased Henry Lyndsay on the east, the deceased Thomas Lam on the north, and the torrent on the west, Baillie for sasine, John Hale, Witnesses: John David, William Hart, Robert Fliger, Robert Myllar, Notary, Michaell Couper, clerk of St Andrews diocese.

20. Instrument of sasine dated 10 November 1552 recording infeftment of James Spens of Lathalland by the hands of his attorney, Alexander Setoun, on a royal precept in succession to his grandfather John Spens of Lathalland, in a fourth part of the lands of Lathalland. Baillie for sasine, Alexander Wylke officer of George Earl of Rothes, sheriff of Fife. Witnesses: Stephen Cristie, Thomas Monyman, and Alexander Preston, Notary: James Anderson, clerk of St Andrews diocese.

21. Charter granted by Agnes Skrymgeour, lady of the middle part of the lands of Cragy with consent of Peter Bruce, apparent of Erlishall, her husband in favour of David Lessallis of Inderdowat of the said middle part of the lands of Cragy in the barony of Rossyth sold to her by Robert Stewart of Rossyth. At Erlishall 18 January 1572. Witnesses: Thomas Bruce, Andrew Robertsone, John Rynd and Thomas Mows, notary. Endorsed with instrument of sasine dated 18 January 1572. Baillie for sasine Patrick Bruce. Witnesses: Thomas Rynde, in Cragy John Ramsay there and David Greig in Fordell, Notary Thomas Mows.

22. Instrument of sasine dated 31 May 1539 recording infeftment of Andrew Wod of Stravethy by the hand of Andrew Wod his son in life rent and James Wod son of the said Andrew, senior in heritage by the hand of Andrew Howesoun servant to Andrew Wod in an annual rent of 20 merks out of the lands of Lathalland following on a contract dated 22 May instant with Arthur Spens fear of Lathalland and Janet Dudingstoun his Spouse. Witnesses: William Hardy and Peter Gibsoun, servants of the said Arthur Spens and William Greig servant to the said Andrew Wod. Notary: Charles Watsoun, clerk of St Andrews diocese. Endorsed with receipt by Andrew Wod of Stravethie for 200 merks in redemption of the annual rent. St Andrews 19 June 1590. Witness: Andrew Wod son to the granter.

23. Confirmation charter by John Seytoun of Lauthrisk Wester in favour of Andrew Seytoun his brother german of a charter by his former tenant David Lauthrisk of Orkye granting the quarter part of the lands of Easter Lauthrisk called Langflett dated at Orkye 4 January 1576.

Witnesses: George Seytoun, James Seytoun, James Andersoun and Patrick Glasfurd, notary. Faulkland, 12 July 1589.

24. Retour before David Weland burgess of Cupar, sheriff depute of Fife, dated 28 April 1590 of George Settone to his deceased paternal uncle George Settone in the ecclesiastical lands of Strathmiglo excepting the houses and gardens formerly occupied by Laurence Symsone, John Broun and John Gibson lying on the west side of the church. Inquest: David Balfour of Bandone, Thomas Forestor of Strathanrie, George Mertene of Cardone, George Auchmutie of that ilk, Walter Heriot of Ramorgny, John Forrett of Fingask, George Settone of Carraldstone, James Spens of Lathalland, Arthur Spens fear of Lathalland, Ninian Bonor of Keltie, Thomas Ballingall of Riggis, Alexander Mortone in Lucheris Mylnetone, Henry Dik there, Robert Hendersone there and William Forgound in Lucheris.

25. Charter by Arthur Spens fear of Lathalland with consent of Janet Dadingstoun his spouse in favour of Andrew Wod of Stravethy in life rent and of James Wod his son in fee of an annual rent of 20 merks from the lands of Lathalland. Lathalland, 31 May 1589. Witnesses: Andrew Wod junior of Stravethy, Andrew Howesoun his servitor, William Hardy servant to the granter, & Andrew Watson, notary, Peter [……………] and William Greig servant to Andrew Wod. Endorsed with discharge of the said annual rent for a payment of 200 merks. St Andrews, 19 June 1590. Witnesses Alexander Spens brother german to Arthur Spens of Lathalland, William Greg servitor to Andrew Wod and Charles Watson, notary.

26. Charter by George Seytoun fear of the lands of the vicarage of Strathmiglo with consent of John Seytoun of Pittedy in favour of John Seytoun, son of the deceased James Seytoun brother of the laird of Lathrysk of the ecclesiastical lands of the vicarage of Strathmiglo, 1590 [Date and witnesses not filled in].

27. A similar document to 26 but in favour of his paternal uncle Captain Patrick Settone, 1590. [Date and witnesses not filled in. This is part of a document cut up to form a cover for paper leaves now torn away].

Retour before David Veland and Thomas Flescher burgesses of Cupar Sheriff deputes of Fife dated 6 September 1592 of John Setone as heir to his brother, William Setone in Leythe in an annual rent of £12 from the sun half of the land of Woddersbie due by William Sandelandis of St Monance son and heir of the deceased James Sandelandis fear of St Monance. Inquest: Alexander Setone in Stramiglo, Richard Scott in Cashe, Alexander Touche there, William Allardes in Kincraigie, John Mathie in Holcattill, John Arnott in the chapell of Cattill, Paul Balfour there, John Setone in Auchtermuchtie, James Baverage there, Patrick Dempstertone there, John Thomsone

in Rossie, Thomas Spens in Pitlochie and William Patersone in Cullessie.

30. Charter by Arthur Spens of Lathalland for implementation of a contract between him & his wife Janet Dudingstone on the one part and Thomas Gourlaw of Kincraig and Barbara Patersone his wife on the other part granting to the second parties in conjoint fee and heretage an annual rent of 50 merks from the lands of Lathalland. At Lathalland, 28 May 1595. Witnesses: John Patersone of Hiltervet, Mr Andrew Patersone fear thereof, George Airthe of Foxtone, John Patersone of Bandirrane, John Heddiruik in Cupar, Walter Mathie in Lathalland and George Arthe fear of Foxtone.

31. Charter by Arthur Spens of Lathalland for implementation of a contract between him & his wife Janet Dudingstone on the one part and Mr John Auchinleck, minister at Largow and Barbara Gourlay on the other part, granting to the second parties in conjoint fee and heretage an annualrent of 80 merks from the lands of Lathalland. At Lathalland, 18 December 1599. Witnesses: Thomas Gourlay of Kincrage, Alexander Spens son & heir apparent to the granter, Thomas Scot and Andrew Smart servants to the granter, and Henry Dolonye servitor to Tomas Gourlay.

32. Instrument of sasine dated 9 May 1600 recording conjoint infeftment of Patrick Person in Bankheid and Margaret Johnstoun his spouse in 8 acres of land (17 riggs) presently occupied by him in Bankheid of Lathalland by Arthur Spence of Lathalland in fulfillment of a contract. Witnesses: William Lundye in Falfield, William Vallace in Lathalland, John Orknay there & Robert Vilsoun in Kilbrakmont. Notary: Adam Litiliohne. Endorsed with discharge for 400 merks [parties as in sasine] being redemption price of the lands. At Lathalland 2 October 1609. Witnesses: Mr James Bruce of Newburgh, Archibald Hamilton in Auctirmairny, Alexander Spens in Sanct Androis, Mr Thomas Wod and David Sym. notaries.

33. Instrument of sasine dated 31 December [1605] recording infeftment of William Persone and Janet Cordy his spouse in three acres of land lying in Lathalland bank presently occupied by Thomas Kyng with pasture for three cows following on a contract with Arthur Spens of Lathalland and Alexander Spens his son & apparent heir as the other party. Witnesses: Patrick Persone in Bankheid, George Anderson in Mwrheid, William Scot in Lathalland and Patrick Spens. Notary Adam Litiliohne.

Endorsed with discharge for 100 merks [parties as in sasine] being redemption price of the lands. At Lathalland 2 October 1609. Witnesses: Mr James Bruce of Newburgh, Alexander Spens in Sanet Androis, Mr Thomas Wod and David Sym notaries and John Dudingston brother to Stevin Dudingston of Sandiefurd.

34. Instrument of sasine dated 13 May 1611 recording infeftment of William Dudingston as heir to his father James Dudingston in Muircambus milne following on a precept by Alexander Spens of Lathalland in an annual rent of £8 from the lands of Lathalland.

Witnesses: Alexander Spens in Elie, Patrick Spens, brother to the said Alexander John Symsone in Cot and Alexander Jhonstone messenger in Drumeldrie. Notary: David Wallace.

35. Precept of clare constat by John Seytoune free holder of lands of Wester and Eister Lauthrisk and Patrick Seytoune fear thereof in favour of John Seytoune as heir to Captain Patrick Seytoune his paternal uncle in an annualrent of 216 merks from the lands of Wester and Eister Lawthrisk.
