Scope and Contents

The contents are as follows:

(i) Manuscript of part of an article, 'Extracts from a lost (and found) memorandum book', published in “Blackwood's Magazine”, March 1821 (folio 1);

(ii) Manuscripts of five poems, 'Four lyrics' (folio 9) and 'Lament of Selim' (folio 15), published in “Blackwood's Magazine”, May 1834 and July 1851.

(iii) Manuscripts of ten apparently unpublished poems: 'British Eclogues, no. 2', circa 1818, 'Rural invitation', circa 1820, 'Sympathies and associations', circa 1821, 'The country seat', circa 1822, 'The fate of Riego', circa 1822, 'Visions reillumined', circa 1823, 'The broken rosebud', circa 1830, 'The lost flower', undated, 'The stranger's skeleton', undated, and 'Lord Noel Byron', undated (folio 19).

(iv) Manuscripts of a story, 'The mysterious visitor', circa 1823 (folio 50), and a play, 'Chatelar', (undated) folio 64, both apparently unpublished.
