The manuscript has the book-plate of Charles Hamilton Gordon, Advocate (admitted 1735, died 1761). On the fly-leaf of the manuscript is written: `This Law Repertorie was collected by the Lord Kerse, who was a Lord of Session in the reign of King Charles the 1st and son to Sir Thomas Hope of Craighall then Lord Advocate.` Hence the manuscript has frequently been referred to as `Kerse`s Law Repertorie`.
