Bibliography

The main differences from the Stair Society edition, which gives the final version of the lectures, are due to Hume`s later revisions. Apart from that:

Part II, Chapters XIV-XVI appear after Chapter VIII;

the chapter on Insurance (Adv.MS.81.6.12) is omitted;

the chapter on teinds (Adv.MS.81.6.31) appears after Part IV, Chapter IX; and,

the chapter on Bankruptcy (Adv.MS.81.6.32, folio 89) appears at the end of Part IV.
For cases where David Cleghorn`s notes fill gaps in Hume`s manuscript, see the prefaces to the Stair Society edition.
References to the corresponding parts of Hume`s manuscript are included in the appended records of Cleghorn`s notes. The catalogue of Hume`s manuscript gives full details of contents and references to the Stair Society edition.
