Scope and Contents

The manuscript is written in one hand.

The dispute, which originated among the English Nonjuring clergy, concerned the prayers used in the Communion service, and the mixing of water with the wine.

The contents of the manuscript are as follows:

(i) `Some short Memoirs of the affairs of the Episcopal church of Scotland since the death of Q. Anne.` John Parker Lawson (page 541) wrongly attributes this to Bishop David Ranken (page 1).

(ii) Copy of the Formula rejecting the Usages, 1724 (page 227).

(iii) `A vindication of the conduct in a late affair of those who stand up for the peace of this afflicted church ... By Bishop Ranken` (page 229).
