Formal copy of the precognitions taken between 18 May and 13 June before Archibald Campbell of Stonefield, Sheriff Depute of Argyll (folio 2), and between 2 and 6 June 1752 before George Douglas of Friarshaw, Sheriff Substitute of Inverness (folio 36 verso), following the murder of Colin Campbell of Glenure on 14 May (the ‘Appin murder’). These are followed (folio 52) by copies and extracts of letters relating to the precognitions, and (folio 56) by further precognitions taken between 12 June and 7 July before Douglas.
