The manuscript is incomplete at the end.

The contents are as follows:

(i) `The baroun Lawis. Modus tenendi curias` in 61 chapters (modern numbering), in Scots (folio 2). The explicit is followed by four lines, beginning `Haec faciunt causas festis tractare diebus` (‘Acts of the Parliament of Scotland’, i, page xvi).

(ii) `Regiam Maiestatem` in 4 parts of 212 continuously numbered chapters (36, 74, 34, and 68 in each part) with table at the beginning (folio 19). Between the table and the text are (folio 23) 11 verses beginning `Hoc trahit ad Lumen antiqua statuta volumen` (‘Acts of the Parliament of Scotland’, i, page xv). ‘Acts of the Parliament of Scotland’, i, pages 233-277.

(iii) `Hii non possunt constituere attornatos` (folio 86).

(iv) `The maner of battell within Listis` in Scots (folio 87).

(v) `De articulis in Burgo querendis in Itinere Camerarii secundum usum Scocie’ (folio 89 verso).

(vi) `Leges burgorum` in 157 chapters with table at the beginning (folio 92). Chapters 154-155 are `Statuta regis Roberti bruss` (folio 121). Chapter 156 is `Gilda regni Scocie`, of which 19 sections are extant (folio 122 verso). The end of Chapter 156 and

chapter 157 (‘Leges regis malcolmi m[?]Kenneth`) are missing. ‘Acts of the Parliament of Scotland’, i, pages 17-44 and 89*-96*.

In (ii)-(vi), headings, the first word of each chapter, and alternate lines of the verse on folio 23 are in red.

Colophon on folio 85 verso: `Et sic est finis tocius regie maiestatis scriptus per me magistrum G. Cuyk xxviijº die mensis Julii Anno Domini j[?] v[?]xxviijº.` On folio 89 recto: per me magistrum georgium cuik (in different ink and not certainly by the same hand). On folio 86 verso are words in Greek and Hebrew. On folio 91 verso (on which only 8 lines of text appear) is written in an early 17th-century hand a Scots version of Genesis Chapters 23-24. On folio 125 verso (cf. 127 recto) there is a note by James Foulis the younger (see below) on the murder of the Regent Moray in 1570 and on folio 126 are written six elegiac couplets probably on the same event, beginning `Febilis in maestas currit sententia voces`. On folio 127 verso are two lists of names, some of advocates, taking various attitudes to a case involving Katherine Broun, wife of Sir James Foulis.
