Custodial History

There is an inscription on folio 1: `Mr John Harper lent this book to the Earle of Craffurd upon the first day of Decemb: 1663’. The manuscript was bought by the Advocates’ Library in 1735.

Immediate Source of Acquisition

Presented, 1925, by the Faculty of Advocates to the nation on the foundation of the National Library of Scotland.

Bibliography

Much of the material is summarised from other copies in ‘Calendar of the State Papers relating to Scotland’, volume iii (Edinburgh, 1903).

A few items are printed as appendices in ‘Memorials of transactions in Scotland’ by Richard Bannatyne (Bannatyne Club, Edinburgh, 1836).

A list of the published items has been placed at the beginning of the manuscript.
